Sohbet with Shaykh EzraShaykh Ezra Ahmed Muhsin is a native Californian. Raised in Orthodox Judaism, trained as a classical musician (French Horn) at Cal State Northridge, and a former naval officer. He began a serious spiritual quest in 1969. Beginning studies in Sufism in 1980 and receiving biat in August of 1985 from Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, he continued with experiential study in many spiritual traditions. He was recognized as a shaykh by Pir Taner Ansari al Qadiri al Rifa'i and was given Khalifat in the order in August of 1997. He has also received biat blessing in the Naqshbandiyya and Tijaniyya orders, and has received ijaza in the Inayatiyya order from Pir Zade Zia Inayat Khan, to help do the Brotherhood work. Shaykh Ezra resides in Grass Valley, California where he and his wife Shaykha Fatima Hadiya Muhsina maintain Halka al Hazrati, a Qadiri Rifai Inayati tariqa.
