The Holy Qur'an

Guidance for Humanity
The Holy Qur'an is the last scripture sent to mankind. It encompasses the earlier scriptures, acting as a kind of distillation of Allah's previously revealed precepts. The Qur'an operates on several levels, from injunctions regarding the most mundane of human daily experience to a portrayal of our cosmos, which has been confirmed in more recent times by scientific observation. There are moral mandates in the personal and social arenas, based on universal laws created by Allah, as well as teaching stories which refer to earlier civilizations, with lessons to be learned from their successes and failures. The Qur'an chronicles the entire history of mankind, from his creation to his demise on earth and his place in eternity.

And thus have We inspired in you (Muhammad) a Spirit, by Our command. You did not know (before) what the scripture was, nor what was faith. But We have made it a light whereby We guide of our servants whom We will. And surely you guide to a straight path. (42:52)

The Prophet said, "Call on me in regard to canything I haven not mentioned to you. People before you were only destroyed by their excessive questioning and their differences regarding their prophets. So when I forbid you something, then avoid it; and when I enjoin something on you, then carry it out to the extent of your ability.
