Silat Zulfikari is the Martial Art of the Qadiri Rifai Tariqa, designed
by Shaykh Taner Ansari to carry the teachings of Sufism through the development
of the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of the human being in a
balanced and healthy way.
Silat Zulfikari is based soundly in the martial practice of West Java
but also draws on the skills and traditions found in Turkey and Central
Asia. It is a true Muslim martial art drawing its spiritual base directly
from Islam, Spiritual Chivalry, and the Sufi teachings of the Qadiri Rifai
Tariqa.
Silat Zulfikari contains both the inner (Batin) and outer (Zahir) teachings
that are essential for any martial practice. The outer teachings Focus
on developing a competent martial artist, someone who can protect themselves
and others. The skills of the fighter are not lost in esthetics or in
the focus on inner development.
The Inner teachings promote robust health, centeredness and balanced
energy. The inner teachings have their foundation in Spiritual Chivalry
and Sufi practice.
